Nilda Fortuna of Orlando Florida died Thursday, January 22, 2009 after a long illness. She is survived by 3 sisters, Eneida, Myrna & Marta - 6 brothers, Japhet, Sergio, Heber, Daniel, Elmer & Hiram - 3 sons, Edward, Richard & Ruben - 3 daughters, Nelly, Jacqulyne & Rachael - many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Note: Nilda’s sisters and brothers are from Tilila Ortiz family branch. The father of Nilda’s children (except Nelly) was Roberto Ortiz from Monserrate Ortiz family branch.

Memorial Presentation Slideshow

Nilda's ashes were buried alongside her son, Juan (Papo) Ramos Saturday January 31, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. That same afternoon a memorial service was held in Nilda's home church where the pastor shared a short inspirational message. Nilda's brother, Sergio Morales, was remarkably as emcee of the memorial service. Various family members took the opportunity to share special memories of Nilda. Nilda's grandson, Alex presented a slideshow of the special moments and people in Nilda's life (below is the link to that presentation).

The memorial service was followed by a family and friends gathering at the church fellowship hall. In the midst of the sadness there was a jovial ambiance throughout the fellowship hall.
